About the Concert
The repertoire for our final concert of the season is linked by orchestration - all the pieces require 4 horns rather than the normal 2 for a Chamber Orchestra. We have the nervous excitement of Beethoven's Egmont, the raw emotion of Verdi's La Traviata, the exciting virtuosity of the Sibelius Humoresque and Mendelssohn's Scottish Symphony coupled with the calm beauty of Mahler's Blumine. A heady mixture of classical and romantic music for a Summer's afternoon.
