About the Concert

Trent Chamber Orchestra kicks off the new season with Haydn's Symphony No. 92, famously known as the "Oxford" symphony, which showcases the composer's brilliance and innovation in orchestral composition. We then welcome talented soloist Thomas Gordon to play Weber's delightful Clarinet Concertino in E flat. The grand finale of the concert will feature Mozart's Symphony No. 41, also known as the "Jupiter" symphony, a monumental work that exemplifies Mozart's genius and mastery of symphonic form. The symphony is a testament to Mozart's unparalleled compositional skill, with its majestic themes, intricate counterpoint, and symphonic grandeur that will leave the audience in awe.

Look out for our next two upcoming concerts:

On Sunday, 11 January 2026, at Djanogly Recital Hall, University of Nottingham, we start with two works by Beethoven: the mighty Prometheus Overture and his Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor with soloist Khrystyna Mykhailichenko. The concert will end with a performance of Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 "London".

On Sunday, 24 May 2026, our season ends at St Luke's Church with three pieces by Mozart. We open the concert with Symphony no 1 in E flat, written when the composer was still only eight years old! We then welcome back Annabel Stephens (violin) and Erin Vinter (viola), two talented young soloists, both brought up in Nottingham, who will perform the Sinfonia Concertante. The concert concludes with Symphony No. 29 in A, widely regarded as Mozart's first truly great symphony, and a landmark in his development as a symphonist.

Finally, we are delighted to adopt The Friary as our charity, working locally to prevent homelessness.
