About the Concert
Music for all Generations: we present three pieces: one seeking to gain parental approval/guidance, one acknowledging the debt owed to a dedicated parent, and finally music written by “The Father”.
Trent Chamber Orchestra’s new season starts with Symphony No 31 (Paris) by Mozart. The structure of this symphony is unusual in that it omits the typical minuet and trio that usually comprises the third movement. Our regular horn player, Robert Parker, will then play Horn Concerto No 1 by Richard Strauss, who composed this work for his father who had more than forty years’ experience playing the horn. The concerto is a tour-de-force for any soloist. The concert ends with Haydn’s Symphony No 101 (The Clock). It features innovative structures and thematic development. In particular, listen out for the sound of a ticking clock in the second movement.
