About the Concert
Nearly all of Rossini's Overtures are designed to whip up the audiences to a state of excitement and his Cinderella is no exception. Long crescendi are his trademark way of building up the tension.
Perhaps his overture to William Tell is his most famous. Less well-known is his delightful ballet Pas de Six from his opera.
We continue our policy of giving young musicians an opportunity to be a soloist with us. Daniel Hibbert's rise to fame has taken him to the National Youth Orchestra and London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Richard Strauss composed his 1st Concerto for his father to play. It is a tour-de-force for any soloist let alone a young 18 year old!
We complete our programme with another Beethoven Symphony, his 8th which exudes vitality throughout.
- Overture La Cenerentola - Rossini
- William Tell - Pas de Six - Rossini
- Habanera - Chabrier
- Horn Concerto No 1 - Richard Strauss
- Symphony No 8 in F - Beethoven
